Holiday Overview

Mustang is remote district lies to the north of the Annapurna Region on the Buddhist monasteries and nunneries built with forbidding cliffs and mountain ledges.

One of the attractions in Mustang district is Kagbeni. It is a quaint medieval town nestled in apple orchards and encircled by snow-mountains and the Lo Manthang, an ancient capital city, built of whitewashed mud bricks and teeming with Buddhist prayer wheels and Stupas, seeming to arise from the earth itself.

In another word Mustang region Trek takes you to the forbidden kingdom of vast arid valleys, eroded canyons, ochre valleys, yak caravans, and colorful painted mud house on the backdrop of majestic mountain of Nilgiri, Tukche, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Several old-new monasteries and ancient caves line this trek.

It is a chance to explore the thousand years old monastery, caves, local tribes and scenic beauty of the diversified landscapes. Himalayan mountain desert with local tribes who dominate Tibetan society are the major attractions of this region.

The uniquely barren yet beautiful landscape and the spectacular mountain view from the upper Mustang makes a trek to Mustang region a marvelous experience. Upper Mustang is regarded as, The last forbidden Kingdom of Nepal. This region was restricted from outsiders. Nepal government has opened it since 1991. A special permit is required to enter this region.

The unique discovery of this place makes it more interesting. Lo- Manthang was founded by Ame Pal in 1380, who discovered its city wall and other still standing structures in 15th century. This region was a separate kingdom and its monarchy was officially ceased on 7th October, 2008 by Government of Nepal. The thousands of years of isolation of Upper Mustang Region have preserved its culture, lifestyle and heritage till now.

The life style of this area is still wild and the landscapes are extremely beautiful. Therefore You can  visit many kind of  monasteries, old king palace and explore their people lifestyles, cultures in this trek. Mustang Trekking begins with drive from Kathmadu to Pokhara and flight to Jomsom then the trek starts through Kagbeni, Tsarang, Lomanthang, Luri Gompa, Tange, Tetang.

The route then enters into spectacular Kali Gandaki river valley and then to Muktinath-famous temples and descend down to Jomsom then fly back to Pokhara and subsequently to Kathmandu.
