Kanchenjunga Trek Restricted Permit fees info: $ 10 for  a week and $ 30 for Kanchnjunga area national Park.

Tims info: Tims is not requires when you have special permit

Travelers Numbers info: To travel Kanchenjunga  require minimum  2 person to obtain Permit. Individuals are not allowed to obtain permit.

Kanchenjunga Trek Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu airport(arrival)-Transfer to Hotel

Enjoy Nepal Treks Staffs will come to Airport for your arrival in Kathmandu then you will drive to hotel and you will have welcome dinner in the evening at Nepali culture restaurant with your Trekking Guide.

Altitude: 1350m.

 

Day 02: sightseeing in kathmandu /Trekking permit Preparation day

You have world heritage sites seeing in kathmandu.Our agency provide you Culture Guide in kathmandu for your sightseeing.We include you Pashupatinath ,Swayambunath  and Boudanath sightseeing.On this day, we prepare your Kanchenjunga  Trekking permit.

Day 03: (Flight) Kathmandu-Bhadrapur And  (Drive) Bhadrapur-Phidim 1264m.

Option 1: From Kathmandu Fly to Bhadrapur 45-60 minutes southeastern Nepal. Closer to India Bhadrapur Airport is situated in Jhapa district of Nepal which is 297 km far away from Kathmandu based on flight distance. Bhadrapur is 40 km far from Indian border Silguri.After your scenic flight  drive to Phidim by jeep or Local bus 5hrs approx.You drive through the Ilam Bazar(Tea Garden),small cities, Terrain flat land and beautiful landscape.

Option 2: Drive to Birtamod by Local bus from Kathmandu 10-12hrs and next day again drive to Taplejung  10hrs approx.

Overnight: at simple Lodge

Flight  time:45-60 minutes and driving time 5hrs approx.

 

Day 04: Phidim 1264m.-Suketar 2425m.-Phurumba-1800m.

After breakfast, again 4hrs approx  you drive to suketar or (Tablejung).You can meet here with your Trekking porters. walking from Suketar it comes small monastery on the way,if you are interested you can visit the monastery. Afternoon steep decent 2hrs approx Asahanpati to Mitlung 980m-.On this day, You walk through the Nepal’s ethnic people Limbu villages with the Rice and millet fields. Explore their interesting local lifestyle with  vegetation.

Overnight: at simple Lodge

Driving time: 4hrs approx, Walking time: 4hrs. 100 m+ and 700m-

 

 

Day 05: Phurumba-1800m.-Lingkhim 1660m.-Chirwa 1270m.

You walk today a lot of up and downhill by crossing the  some suspension bridges on the way through the cardamom, Rice and millet(lush vegetation).It takes 3-4hrs to Lingkhim from Phurumba.You can have lunch at Lingkhim.From here walk to Chirwa through the Tamor River 4hrs approx.

Walking time: 7-8hrs. 200 m+ and 730m-

 

Day 06: Chirwa 1270m.-Tapethok-Lelep-Sekathum 1650m.

You walk today up and downhill trail by crossing the several suspension bridges. On this day at Tapethok you will have to entry to Kanchenjunga Trekking Permit.From here walk to Sekathum trough the phembu by crossing the Tamor and Ghunsa Khola.Here is warm temperature, in warm temperature you can have open shower or wash clothing.

Walking time: 5hrs. 550 m+ and 250m-

 

Day 07: Sekathum 1650m.-Amjilosa 2498m

Walk continue near the River, cross the  wooden bridges.On this day, you can have your lunch at Lamotar 1900 m.from here change the another riverside then 30-40 minutes walk steeply uphill first then gently uphill continues to Amjilosa.When you arrive at Amjilosa from here you can see the 1st glimpses of upcoming passes between Ghunsa & Cheram.

Walking time: 5hrs. 930 m+ and 100m-

 

 

Day 08: Amjilosa 2498m-Gyabla 2725m.

You walk today through the  narrow trail and cross the landslide. The trail goes plenty of  up &  down after   landslide.  On the way, it comes Bamboo forest and Rhododendrons. Mainly in the spring season it’s an awesome with the colorful Rhododendron flowers. Finally, after steeply  uphill you will arrive at Gyabla village.

Walking time: 5hrs. 480 m+ and 150m-

 

Day 09: Gyabla 2725m.-Phale 3215m-Ghunsa 3415m.

Walk to Ghunsa, the first follow the River trail  then cross the several large meadow, villages uphill to Phale.Phale is known as Sherpa village, here is one small monastery.If you are interested to visit of course we can visit the Monastery and talk to Monks.Then descend, cross the River and continue walk to Ghunsa.The place is known as Tibetan residents village.You can see here wooden houses, visit the school, heath post,Micro hydropower.You can charge your batteries and you can have shower here.Also there are some shops and Phone call.It’s the largest and the last village of this valley.

Walking time: 5-6hrs. 880 m+ and 270m-

 

 

Day 10: Ghunsa 3415m.- Viewpoint 3950m-Ghunsa 3415m

Acclimatization day at Ghunsa.From the other side of River,You will hike steeply ascent to Viewpoint 3950meters with the Tibetan Prayer flags. from the viewpoint enjoy the view of Jannu 7710m. Then walk down to Ghunsa.On this also explore the outstanding picturesque Ghunsa Tibetan Village.

Note: walk with your small bag, water, tea, biscuits. And leave your luggage at lodge.

 

Walking Time: 3-4 hrs (535m+ and 535m -)

Day 11: Ghunsa 3415m.- Kambachen 4085m.

The Trail goes along the River then through the Pine forests, Rhododendron forests, Chortens, Mani wall gradually up.You will have lunch at Rambuk kharka.After lunch cross the Ghunsa River  and Climb steep. Before descend to  kambachen On the way enjoy the view of Jannu 7710m.After crossing  slopes and glacial moraines,then finally reach to Kambachen.The place is known as small another Tibetan settlement place which has been surrounded by Mountains.

 

Walking Time: 6 hrs (820m+ and 190m -)

Day 12: Kambachen 4045m.-Lhonak 4780m.

The Trail leads you flat at first then ascend to Ramtang 4370m.At this place you can have lunch at  a small monastery.Then walk continue to Lonak.Today you will overnight on the North Kanchenjunga Glacier.Via Lhonak you can see the Mera Peak and Nepal peak. In all direction,You will  have a magnificent panorama.

 

Walking Time: 6 hrs (870m+ and 180m -)

Day 13: Lhonak 4780m.-Kanchenjunga Base Camp 5140m.-Back to Lhonak 4780m.

For the great panorama walk in the morning the rocky path,You walk up to northern Kanchenjunga base camp which is called Pang Pema either.You enjoy the view of word’s 3rd highest mt Kanchenjunga 8586m.After enjoying the view walk back to Lhonak.When you come back to Lhonak have a lunch and after lunch in addition you can do, if you interested to go western  Kanchenjunga for the View of  Yalung 8505m,Kangbachen 7902m 3-4hrs more walking time 200m+and 380m-  Or you can rest after lunch decide yourself.

Note: The Base Camp ,you get very cold so take warm clothes and enough Water, Biscuits.

Day 14: Lhonak 4780m.-Ghunsa 3415m.

With Spectacular Photos retrace steps back to Ghunsa.On the way,it is seen rarely Blue sleep depends on luck. Again the  path goes down to the valley through the Kambachen.Today you can have lunch at Kambachen then after Lunch descend to Ghunsa.You walk today slightly up and completely desced.

 

Walking Time: 8 hrs (300m+ and 1250m -)

Day 15: Ghunsa 3415m.- Sele la Kharka 4200m.

 

Today,the trail goes through the Juniper, Rhododendron forests and rocky.from Ghunsa to Tamo la pass 3940m walk steeply up about 1hrs then walk up and down for another pass 4290m.Again continue to Kharka.From here enjoy the snow covered mountains view of Syamdo Kangri and Sarphu.But the view depends on Weather.

 

Walking Time: 5 hrs (920m+ and 135m -)

Day 16: Sele la Kharka 4200m.-Sele la pass-Tseram 3885m.

You have more than 3 exciting crossing passes (Sele la pass 4480m,Sinion la 4660m,Sinelapcha la 4705m,Mirgin la pass 4620m).In clear weather, it is the most awesome day of the trek.You can see the Mt view of Everest 8848m,Makalu 8463m and several other peaks from passes. After final pas, with the impressive panorama descend very steeply about 1000m to Tseram.

 

Walking Time: 6-7 hrs (720m+ and 1000m -)

Day 17: Tseram 3885m.-Hiking to south Kanchenjunga Base camp

Hiking to Ramche-south Kanchenjunga Base camp. Explore the  Yalung Glacier, on the way rarely can see Blue Sleep. Near the Ramche you will see lake and Lapsang People settlement.The trail leads you rocky and moraines to reach Oktang Glacier.Finally  come back to same place, on the  way ,we can see many mountains. (you will see the south face of Kanchenjunga)

Walking Time: 6-7 hrs (872m+ and 872m -)

Day 18: Tseram 3885m.-Lamite Bhanjyang 3415m.

We descend along the Simbuwa River and through the Rhododendron,pine forests by crossing the Tortang 2980m.It will be warmer temperature on  the way.The trail goes slightly ascend and mostly descend to Lamire Bhanjyang. (Enjoy the surrounding view, flora and fauna.)

 

Walking Time: 7 hrs (720m+ and 1120m -)

Day 19: Lamite Bhanjyang 3415m.-Yamphudin 2015m.

At first trail goes basically through the pine,Rhododendron trees 2 hrs steeply down and come slippery and landslide trail. Caution yourself in this area. Then reach the Sherpa village (Yamphudin) by crossing the Amji river via wooden suspension bridge. In the afternoon you have time, you can explore the lush rice, veg terraces, village and villagers.

 

Walking Time: 4 hrs (150m+ and 1470m -)

Day 20: Yamphudin 2015m.-Sibudin 1340m.

You walk today through the Rice and Millet field via Kabeli River with the 2 quite steep passes.You will have lunch at Ekchana Bhanjyang 2070m which is an ideal place because of beautiful rounding view.After lunch walk down hill green slopes to Sibudin.or Doban.

 

Walking Time: 7-8 hrs (750m+ and 1490m -)

Day 21: Sibudin 1340m.-Panchami 800m.

 

You have short walking day. It’s your last night with your Trekking porters. Relax your day after lunch. Here you have an opportunity to swim if you are interested. Here is warm temperature.

Day 22: Panchami 800m.-Birtamod-Bhadrapur 208m.

Drive to Bhadrapur through the Subtropical Himalaya,Tea plantation Ilam via Birtamod.

Day 23: Bhadrapur 208m.-Kathmandu

From Bhadrapur to Kathmandu fly 45-60 minutes. Enjoy the the panorama again with your flight. Afternoon you have time in Kathmandu. You can relax your day.
